Vancouver Airport Authority

Senior Technical Analyst

Location Vancouver, Canada Job Code 26-94

YVR is a place of connection, bringing together people, places and cargo while ensuring a safe and efficient experience for everyone. The Innovation & Technology Group (ITG) is the enterprise technology organization behind Vancouver International Airport. Our teams deliver and support the infrastructure, networks, software, enterprise platforms, cloud services, operational systems, and digital products that keep one of Canada's busiest airports running 24 hours a day. From Digital Twin and AI to mission-critical operational technology and passenger-facing applications, we work across every area of the airport to deliver innovative technology solutions with real-world impact.

Position overview

The Senior Technical Analyst plays a pivotal role within the Innovation & Technology Group, working across software development, enterprise systems, cloud platforms, airport operations, and digital products to help shape the next generation of technology at Vancouver International Airport.
This is a broad, technically focused role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems, connecting systems, and turning ideas into practical solutions.

Working closely with software developers, operational stakeholders, architects, infrastructure teams, and enterprise application owners, you will help define technical approaches, evaluate new technologies, design integrations, and guide solution delivery across a diverse portfolio that includes Digital Twin, operational systems, airport applications, websites, APIs, and emerging digital initiatives.

Rather than acting as a traditional Business Analyst, you will use your technical expertise to understand how systems interact, identify opportunities for innovation, and help teams deliver secure, scalable and maintainable solutions. From early concept and proof-of-concept work through to production implementation, you'll play an integral role in shaping technology that supports both airport operations and the passenger experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with operational stakeholders and technical teams to translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
  • Evaluate solution options and recommend approaches that align with enterprise architecture, security and operational objectives.
  • Work closely with software developers throughout the software development lifecycle, providing technical analysis, solution design and implementation support.
  • Design and document system integrations, APIs, data flows and solution architectures across cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Enterprise Applications, Cyber Security and Data & Analytics teams to ensure successful delivery of cross-functional initiatives.
  • Lead technical discovery activities for new products, proof-of-concepts and emerging technologies.
  • Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities to improve performance, automation, reliability and user experience.
  • Support solution delivery using Microsoft Azure services and modern software development practices.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor across multiple technology domains and contribute to long-term technology strategy.

Key qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Technical Analyst, Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification required or the ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire. Additional Azure certifications, including Azure Developer Associate, Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate, or other relevant Microsoft certifications, are considered an asset.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments
  • Demonstrated experience working across enterprise applications, cloud platforms, software development and systems integration.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, data integration, databases and modern application architectures.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with software development teams using Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Curiosity, initiative and a passion for exploring emerging technologies.
