Senior Operations Analyst, Capacity Planning

Position overview

As the Senior Operations Analyst, Capacity Planning, you will be accountable for identifying and implementing operational strategies for the most efficient use of our core infrastructures – runways, aircraft stands, and terminal and baggage processors – by leveraging demand and capacity data analytics, coupled with in-depth knowledge of airport infrastructure and systems, while aligning with our operational performance objectives, and those of our key stakeholders and partners. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate and enhance demand and capacity technical assessment to ensure efficient operations, relative to processing capacity and expected demand specific to the runways and maneuvering area
  • Refine data models to evaluate, forecast demand and set capacity thresholds for the aircraft journey in collaboration with Analysts who oversee terminal constraints (passengers and baggage)
  • Identify and implement new, improved business processes with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Coordinate medium and long-term term planning for YVR’s common use resources
  • Provide scheduled demand data and insights to the broader organization to ensure a common understanding of demand as well as setting the basis for efficient operational planning
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to develop forecast, assess capacity constraint, and provide input to support operational and capital planning
  • Liaise with various airlines, ground handlers and other partners to ensure scheduling and asset allocation strategies support the operations of various stakeholders
  • Monitor, report and provide insight on operational delivery KPI metrics

Key qualifications include:

  • Five years of recent, related experience, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of the aviation industry and airport operational processes; experience in airline operations is an asset
  • Excellent analytical skills, sound judgment and ability to formulate decisions often without established guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience using business intelligence tools for data modelling and predictive analysis (Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, etc.) and advanced MS Excel skills
  • Professional demeanor with advanced report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to determine framework required to establish KPIs
  • Proven relationship building and negotiation skills to influence win-win outcomes and manage relationships with key business partners

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external candidates. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $80,932 to $105,773 per annum, based on 37.5 hours per week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
