Senior Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Coordinator

Position overview 

Reporting to the Manager of Business Resilience, this position is responsible for developing and guiding the strategic framework as it relates to the development, maintenance and the continuous improvement of the emergency management and business continuity programs at YVR. Are you looking for a position where you can lead resiliency initiatives like development of business continuity programs, plans and exercises?

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Leading and overseeing the development of all templates under the business continuity program including Risk assessment, Business Impact Analysis, and Business Continuity Plan templates
    • Ensuring templates meet long term strategic objectives (buildable to meet maturity model objectives) and encompass multi-facet approach for a complex operational organization 
  • Providing guidance and subject matter expertise to the organization in the development, implementation, maintenance and periodic testing of resilience strategies, business continuity plans, and facilitating integration of efforts and management of interdependencies at the corporate level
  • Reviewing and updating current emergency management documentation including plans, procedures, protocols, programs, policies, checklists, and guides based on learnings from actual or exercised incidents or changes in organizational direction 
  • Building the organizational support for corporate business continuity program, resilience initiatives, and preparedness activities by consulting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Acting as an emergency or business continuity expert to provide support in the event of an incident at YVR requiring additional or specialist resources 
  • Availability to be on standby 24/7 as required, particularly in the event of emergencies or EOC activation, to promptly respond to and address critical situations as they arise.

Key qualifications include:

  • University Degree or Diploma in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration, Environmental Sciences or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent 
  • Minimum of 5 progressive experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ability to manage large-scale projects 
  • Proficient in effectively presenting information tailored to the executive audience, ensuring the delivery of accurate, concise, and impactful content
  • Capability to provide leadership and handle portfolios effectively
  • Critical and Analytical Thinking Skills

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $80,932 to $105,773 per annum, based on xx-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
