Co-op Student – Asset Management
Position Overview
The Vancouver Airport Authority has one (1) full-time opportunity for a co-op position in the Asset Management Department for up to a 4-month term starting May 2025. The Asset Management team is undertaking several strategic initiatives as part of the Asset Development and Asset Optimization (ADAO) 2025 departmental goals. These initiatives will have a significant impact on enterprise-wide capital planning, infrastructure maintenance, and asset renewal plans, particularly in the area of asset investment planning. The successful candidate will develop, analyze, coordinate and implement initiatives that are consistent with, and will facilitate, the Airport Authority’s Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Interdepartmental Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
The department is developing five (5) SLAs for key asset categories, including Heavy Fleets, Aircraft Stands, Generators, Navigational Aids, and People Movers. The co-op student will assist the Asset Performance Planner with project management activities, such as coordinating meetings, tracking deliverables, and ensuring the project remains on schedule. - Digital Asset Management Plans
The team is creating five (5) Digital Asset Management Plans for the same key asset categories. The student will support the development of an Asset Condition and Criticality assessments database, which will serve as the foundation for a Power BI-based dashboard. The student will assist with data gathering, analysis, and dashboard development. - Asset Tagging, Inventory, and Data Governance
The Asset Management team aims to increase the number of asset records from 10,000 to at least 30,000 as part of its asset tagging and inventorying efforts. This initiative is essential to enable the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, Maximo, to accurately plan preventative maintenance and track asset performance. The student will assist with asset data review, reconciliation, and clean-up, as well as the creation of asset data standards, manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for asset integrity and data management. - Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Support and Optimization
The department is reconfiguring the EAM system to improve functionality and integration. The student will support user testing of new configurations, updates, and integrations, helping to ensure the system meets user requirements and operational needs. - Other responsibilities include project management activities, including the creation and management of project schedules, budget tracking, and contract administration.
What will the student get out of this position:
- Student will be exposed to key project management skills including stakeholder engagement and management, as well as contract administration practices.
- The projects will expose the student to YVR various infrastructure systems helping them identify and categorize asset’s which is a sought-after skill for future employment.
- The projects will expose a student to process mapping and gap analysis of YVR operations while learning skills through an enterprise software system project which will bolster their competencies in project management, LEAN processes and change management practices.
Key Qualifications include:
The individual will have the following:
- Working towards a university degree in Engineering
- strong analytical and communication skills
- enjoys working in an exciting and fast-paced environment
- detail-orientation with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- diplomacy and professionalism
- demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and work well independently
- demonstrated commitment to customer service and excellence

Salary Range : $24.08/hr + Living Wage top up to $27.05/hr
