Trainer, Learning and Development

Position overview
We have a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Trainer, Learning and Development on the Human Resources team. Reporting to the Director, Learning & Development, the Trainer, L&D will be responsible for developing and implementing competency-focused training programs for YVR’s frontline employees, as well as other departments and partners at YVR.
As YVR sits on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam people, the successful candidate will create and deliver a training program that embodies Musqueam culture and welcomes, fosters teamwork, and engages and empowers employees to deliver an exceptional guest experience at YVR.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, develop and deliver engaging new hire onboarding, engagement and leadership training programs for YVR employees.
- Research, write and create interactive instructor-led and online course content, including all materials and modules for in-class and on-the-job training.
- Lead and organize training sessions as well as develop assessment and evaluations on skill retention and application.
- Collaborate and liaise with internal and external YVR partners and stakeholders to continually evaluate, improve and revise training materials and plans.
- Responsible for ensuring all training materials and documentation including SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are up-to-date, accurate and reflective of a changing operational environment.
- Continuously learn and apply adult learning best practices to the training program.
Key qualifications include:
- Minimum 5 years of training experience with skills in creating and implementing competency and engagement training programs, supplemented by a post-secondary degree in Business Management or Human Resources; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience; professional designations in training and/or facilitation, such as Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) or Certified Training Practitioner (CTP), are considered assets.
- Proven presentation, group facilitation skills; adept at engaging and teaching to various adult learning needs.
- Strong experience in learning & development, human resources, leadership, and management skills training with a solid understanding of the use of learning objectives and assessments to build competency.
- Exceptional understanding and knowledge of the airport operations environment is an asset.
- Significant computer skills including MS Teams, developing online training modules and course content as well as delivering training in-person and online.
- Strong communications and relationship skills with the ability to engage with various stakeholders to gather information and feedback that can be quickly adapted to training materials.
This position is open to Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
Salary Range : $68,011 to $88,886 per annum, based on 37.5 hours per week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
