Talent Acquisition Specialist

Location Vancouver, Canada Job Code 26-84

YVR is a place of connection, bringing together people, places and cargo while ensuring a safe and efficient experience for everyone.

At YVR, attracting great people is one of the most important ways we shape the future of our organization. We're looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist who sees recruitment as more than filling roles - someone who is passionate about building relationships, creating exceptional candidate experiences, and helping leaders make confident hiring decisions that support long-term success.

Position overview

This is not a transactional recruiting role. You'll partner closely with leaders across the organization to understand business priorities, anticipate future talent needs, and build talent pipelines that strengthen our workforce for today and tomorrow.

Using labour market insights, data, and strong stakeholder relationships, you'll help identify and attract people with the mindset, potential, and capabilities needed to thrive at YVR. You'll also play an important role in evolving our recruitment practices, enhancing our employer brand, and creating hiring experiences that reflect our values and culture.

In this role you’ll join our People experience team as a Talent Acquisition Specialist and report to our Manager, Talent Acquisition. We're looking for someone who is curious, relationship-focused, and energized by connecting great people with meaningful opportunities. If you enjoy balancing strategy and execution, influencing leaders, and helping shape the future workforce of a complex and purpose-driven organization, we'd love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting full-cycle recruitment including: establishing requirements; building diverse talent pools and future-ready pipelines; developing sourcing strategies; shortlisting candidates; evaluating candidates for skills, behaviours, learning agility and potential; managing candidates throughout the recruitment cycle; and negotiating offers
  • Partnering with and coaching hiring leaders to make consistent, informed and values-aligned recruitment and selection decisions that support capability building and workforce readiness
  • Partner with leaders and People Experience colleagues to design and implement talent acquisition strategies that strengthen YVR's employer brand, improve candidate experience, and support current and future workforce needs.
  • Leverage labour market intelligence, recruitment metrics, and workforce trends to provide insights and recommendations that support hiring decisions and future talent planning.
  • Representing the Airport Authority at career fairs, campus, community and industry events to build relationships, expand talent pipelines, and position YVR as an employer of choice for future-ready talent
  • Participating in HR and corporate-wide projects that improve process consistency, enable leaders, support internal mobility, and advance YVR’s broader Enabling Talent priorities.

Key qualifications include:

  • Two to five years’ experience in managing full-cycle recruitment, preferably in a corporate, agency or complex organizational environment, with demonstrated success in building and maintaining talent pools and pipelines, assessing for capability, potential and values alignment, and delivering a strong candidate and hiring leader experience,
  • A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field (concentration in Human Resource Management is a plus); or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Recruitment experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Awareness of the current labour market and demonstrated ability to use data, insights and stakeholder input to develop recruitment strategies that support business requirements, workforce readiness and future capability needs
  • General knowledge of Canada Labour Code and regulations that impact federally regulated entities
  • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships, influence hiring leaders, and work collaboratively with subject matter experts at different levels to support consistent, fair and outcome-focused hiring decisions
  • Proficient with MS Office and comfortable with spreadsheets/data analysis, ATS (experience with Taleo TBE preferred) and HRIS (preferably Success Factors)

Although not required, French language skills are an asset as we are committed to providing bilingual services to our visitors and passengers. This helps us meet federal language obligations while ensuring a welcoming experience. Candidates who do not speak French are still strongly encouraged to apply.
