Social Impact Specialist

Position overview
Are you passionate about creating meaningful impact, fostering strong relationships and connecting with community? As the Social Impact Specialist, you’ll play a key role in planning and delivering YVR’s Community Giving, Employee Giving, and Employee Volunteering programs. Reporting to the Director, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, you will connect colleagues with each other and our community, as we support leading social enterprises working towards empowering people, supporting communities and creating a sustainable future.
Key responsibilities include:
- Communicate internally the opportunities and benefits of participating in Employee Giving and Employee Volunteer program initiatives to ensure strong engagement and further enhance our purpose-driven culture
- Plan, promote, and deliver social impact events at the terminal and across Sea Island, in collaboration with community organizations
- Track, assess, and report on the effectiveness and impact of the initiatives, partnerships and overall program
- Assess grant applications to identify projects that align with YVR’s social impact goals and recommend funding decisions in the YVR Cares Community Giving program, through charitable donations, sponsorships, or other forms of support to community organizations and projects
- Monitor trends, issues, and best practices related to social responsibility and community development to inform future strategies
Key qualifications include:
- At least three years’ experience in a marketing, event management or social impact role
- A two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility, Communications, Marketing, Event Management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Strong understanding of the charitable sector, non-profit management, community giving programs, social impact best practices and employee engagement
- Demonstrated experience working with social giving platforms, digital donation software, and any other technology solutions that support grant writing, review and partnership intake
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and communicating about complex social issues
- Demonstrated experience engaging individuals across a diverse socioeconomic landscape
- Exceptional project management and event planning skills, relationship building and maintenance skills, flexibility, and ability to take initiative.
- Proficient using Microsoft office programs, including Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Class 5 Driver’s License
Occasional weekend and evening work are required for some Employee Giving and Employee Volunteer program initiatives and social impact events. You will be compensated for this time in accordance with our collective agreement.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all candidates that apply for this position.
Salary Range : $68,011 to $88,886 per annum, based on 37.5 hours per week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
