Operations Specialist, Terminal Services

As the primary liaison with multiple government agencies operating at YVR, the team fosters collaboration to streamline operations and elevate the overall airport experience.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for an Operations Specialist, Terminal Services, reporting to the Manager, Terminal Services. The successful candidate will be responsible in ensuring efficient airport operations by optimizing processes, managing projects, analyzing data for performance improvements, engaging stakeholders, fostering a safe work culture, and overseeing terminal assets and programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement strategies for optimizing contract processes based on comprehensive financial analysis, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Provide detailed financial oversight of multiple service contracts, including proactive expenditure analysis and Living Wage implications to inform RFP preparations.
- Conduct forensic cost reviews to break down service agreement components, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
- Lead the full lifecycle of Terminal service delivery, from development and testing to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of operational processes.
- Manage service contract performance by establishing, tracking, and refining Key Performance Indicators to drive operational efficiency.
- Cultivate strong collaborative relationships across internal departments to ensure service contracts align with corporate and operational objectives.
Key qualifications include:
- At least 3 years of recent, relevant experience in a dynamic, regulated environment or a major international airport, supported by a post-secondary degree in Business, Aviation Management, Airport Operations, Process Engineering, Logistics, Sciences, Project Management, Technology, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expertise in advanced data analytics with a strong ability to derive actionable insights.
- Extensive experience in contract management, including financial oversight and strategic interpretation of contract language.
- Proven ability to analyze and present complex financial data from multiple service contracts with clarity and precision.
- Exceptional communication, networking, interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills, with experience delivering engaging presentations to large audiences.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
Salary Range : $ 82,877 to $ 108,315 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
