Manager - Real Estate Development

Position overview
As a key member of the Real Estate Development team, the Manager, Real Estate Development will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Sea Island. Reporting to the Director, Real Estate Development, this one-year acting assignment/term position will lead the delivery of major development projects across 1,200 acres of available commercial land. You will oversee the development and construction of both Vancouver Airport Authority (VAA) and build-to-suit facilities such as specialized cargo buildings, warehouses, light industrial spaces, offices, and other airport-specific developments. This is a unique opportunity to influence large-scale projects that support YVR’s growth, strengthen the airport ecosystem, and contribute to one of BC’s most significant economic engines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and executing real estate development plans for a portfolio of projects in accordance with varying project size, scope and complexity
- Planning and overseeing procurement of consultants to perform due diligence on all brown and green fields
- Overseeing procurement and contract negotiations for all professionals, consultants, and contractors necessary to execute on the development plans
- Managing, planning, co-ordinating, and directing the Project Management department
- Acting as subject matter expert on construction project execution
Key qualifications include:
- At least five years of relevant experience leading real estate development projects valued at $50M or more, with demonstrated expertise in construction project management, procurement, design, and construction methodologies, along with a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least three years of supervisory or people management experience
- Working knowledge of building codes, construction safety guidelines, contract law and procurement
- Holistic project management skills with experience on complex multi-year, multi-disciplinary construction projects
- Financial acumen relating to the development of proformas and cost controls
- Possession of P. Eng, MBA, LEED certification and/or PMP certification is an asset

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $105,680 to $158,520 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
