Manager, Asset Management Planning

Position overview

We have a full-time permanent opportunity for a Manager, Asset Management Planning in our Asset Management department. Reporting to the Director, Asset Management, the Manager will be  a self starter. They will be responsible for ensuring the organization is supported in adopting and enterprise wide approach to the capture and use of Asset data, ensuring there is understanding of YVR’s enterprise-wide Assets in a way that is commonly managed and understood. This is done though establishing and maintaining a consistent asset management framework, ensuring accurate asset data and information, understanding how YVR’s asset base serves its business objectives , as well as working with a wider variety of stakeholders (asset managers, maintainers and operators/business leads) to develop asset management plans and manage performance for various asset categories enterprise wide.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership to the team establishing development plans and annual goals, recommending staff resources, training and hiring, and monitoring work performance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization as it relates to asset management frameworks, and to create asset management plans for various asset categories
  • Lead the team in developing and reporting on Asset Performance for critical asset classes enterprise wide to enable informed investment decisions
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the usage of YVR’s enterprise asset management software (Maximo), as it relates to Asset Data and practices that support consistency enterprise wide for better performance tracking and improved understanding of Total Cost of Ownership 
  • Maintain data integrity related to assets through development, implementation and management of standardized practices and procedures across the enterprise, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates on planning and management of information related to Asset Condition Assessments.
  • Manage budget and forecast activities, including development and oversight of contract strategies in support of the asset management department

Key qualifications include:

  • At least five years of relevant experience in an industrial environment, along with a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Science or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong demonstrated leadership capability (minimum 3 years of leadership/people management) and business acumen, with the ability to take initiative to drive progress in a complex, fast paced environment. 
  • A minimum of three years of leadership or people management experience.
  • Previous work as a tradesperson, preferably holding more than one ticket, in a regulated trade (such as electrical or plumbing, or certified as a power engineer)
  • Certification as a Technologist with ASTTBC and/or Asset Management Professional (AMP) is preferred
  • A keen eye for detail, an interest in obtaining information from various sources, all while being able to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Maintaining professional proactive relationships with ISO and Asset Management Institutes


Although not required, French language skills are an asset as we are committed to providing bilingual services to our visitors and passengers. Candidates who do not speak French are still strongly encouraged to apply. 

This position is open to both external candidates and Vancouver Airport Authority employees. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $105,680 to $158,520 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
