Electrical Compliance Specialist

The Maintenance Department is an essential part of Airport Operations, working with real-time teams, service providers, internal & external stakeholders, vendors & project teams to ensure high standard of campus system performance at YVR.
Position overview
We have 2 full time permanent Electrical Compliance Specialist positions in the Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Manager, Electrical Services the Electrical Compliance Specialists will be part of a team of electrical professional’s responsible for planning and developing multiyear asset management plans for electrical infrastructure which align with the corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining current knowledge and disseminating changes to CEC, CSA, OSHA, National Building code, NFPA 70E, ULC S536 & S524, as well as all BC Safety Authority Regulations.
- Collaborate with all levels of Government Electrical Authorities to maintain current knowledge of all applicable codes.
- Conducting inspections and audits of all electrical areas to ensure compliance.
- Collaborating with project managers and consultants on projects regarding electrical compliance; this includes monitoring all phases of projects, reviewing and monitoring external consultants’ recommendations, and auditing projects and performing site inspections
- Coordinating and scheduling maintenance on electrical infrastructure assets
- Managing and maintaining Single Line Diagram for electrical infrastructure from 69K Hydro feed to 120V circuitry for YVR properties
- Reviewing project drawings and design evaluation for electrical compliance and coordination
- Developing and delivering training information sessions on Code changes and new technologies to crews
- Managing and maintaining SKM Arc Flash Model
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults within electrical infrastructure systems
Key qualifications include:
- 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment including maintenance of electrical systems, fire alarms and high voltage
- Trade Qualification Red Seal in Electrical or Engineering (Electrical, mechanical or energy) qualification.
- Eligibility for membership in Association of Applied Science and Technology
- Asset Management Professional designation
- PMP Certificate designation is a plus
- Current knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, Canadian Standards Association CSA, SKM Arc Flash model, IEEE standards, National Fire Code of Canada and Canadian Building Code.
- Demonstrated computer skills in Maximo, MS Office Suite, Visio and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of accident investigation techniques such as Taproot.
- Proven experience using test equipment including multimeters, insulation testers, circuit tracers, thermography equipment, hazardous gas detectors, underground cable locators, single and 3 phase power quality analyzers, power harmonics analyzers, phase rotation meters, high voltage proximity testers, LUX meters, loop impedance testers and current leakage meters.
- High voltage, Fire Alarm and/or Scada experience is an asset.
- Ability to work through multiple layers of complex blueprints and schematics.
- Facilitation skills to manage information sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to write detailed reports including Standard Operating Procedures.
