Position overview

We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Director, Supply Management in the Supply Management department. YVR’s Supply Management team provides strategic and operational leadership for all procurement and supply chain activities at YVR to enable safe, efficient, reliable, and sustainable airport operations. The team oversees all procurement activities related to capital projects, rentals, contractual workforce, facilities, IT, concessions, and other operational categories.

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, this role will leverage policies, market-driven sourcing strategies, vendor management, contract management excellence, and transformation initiatives to deliver resilience, value, and innovation. The Director, Supply Management will lead a team of experienced professionals and foster a culture of curiosity, service excellence, and continuous improvement across the Supply Management function.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies across capital and operational categories, ensuring value, resilience, and alignment with YVR’s strategic priorities.
  • Lead major sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management, leveraging market intelligence to drive performance and innovation.
  • Oversee warehousing, logistics, inventory, and contingency planning to ensure supply continuity for critical airport operations.
  • Manage procurement and supplier risks while integrating sustainability, Musqueam partnership commitments, living wage principles, and other social values into sourcing practices.
  • Drive transformation initiatives including digitization, advanced analytics, AI‑enabled tools, automation, and circular economy programs.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, airlines, concessionaires, regulators, vendors, and Indigenous communities, ensuring effective contract performance and reporting.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing Supply Management team while championing a culture of inclusion, accountability, innovation, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

Key qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or related operational fields, including leadership experience in complex environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and contract drafting/review.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience developing business cases, managing budgets, and interpreting financial KPIs.
  • Proficiency with supply chain systems, digital procurement tools, and data analysis platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse internal and external partners.
  • Experience in airport operations or other complex operational environments is an asset; professional certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or CLTD are also considered assets.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects and manage large‑scale procurement initiatives.

  • Establish clear procurement, category, and contract management frameworks that enhance value, resilience, service delivery, and compliance across capital and operational portfolios.
  • Develop a deep understanding of YVR’s operational environment, priorities, stakeholder needs, and long‑term strategic direction to ensure supply strategies are aligned and proactive.

Although not required, French language skills are an asset as we are committed to providing bilingual services to our visitors and passengers. This helps us meet federal language obligations while ensuring welcoming experience. Candidates who do not speak French are still strongly encouraged to apply.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $161,600 to $242,400 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity. Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 20% of your annual salary.
