Construction Project Lead

Position overview 
Reporting to the Manager, Real Estate Development, the Construction Project Lead will be responsible for the implementation and management of a diverse array of construction projects of varying complexity and capital cost, with a focus on real estate developments for specialized cargo buildings, warehouses, light industrial, offices and other airport-specific developments. They are accountable for the entire project scope, project team, resources, and the success or failure of the project.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Overseeing the procurement of Consultants and Contractors
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and design parameters.
  • Developing and maintaining a detailed project schedule, including milestones and deadlines.
  • Creating and managing the project budget, implementing cost control measures and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Facilitating regular project meetings with stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Preparing and distributing progress reports, highlighting key achievements and challenges.
  • Identifying potential risks and developing risk mitigations strategies.

Key qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum experience of 4 years in capital project delivery and/or other associated real estate experience, supplemented by a post-secondary education in project management, business, engineering or related; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of construction drawings and design documents.
  • Managing budgets and ensuring full transparency in profit and losses in projects.
  • Understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, structural), capital project delivery methodology and financial acumen.
  • LEED certification and/or PMP certification is an asset.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $87,926 to $114,912 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
