Facility Maintenance Duty Supervisor

Position overview
We have opportunities for permanent, full-time Facilities Maintenance Duty Supervisors in the Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Manager, Transport Infrastructure Maintenance, the successful candidates will function as the Supervisor for a Duty Facility Maintenance shift crew. Providing leadership and direction of planned and unplanned work, you will ensure that safe working practices are followed, liaising with stakeholders, contractors and management, and reporting on progress and issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying, prioritizing, supervising and performing planned and unplanned work which includes; actively participating in block schedule reviews; leading daily kick off meetings and end of shift huddles; and monitoring, assisting and/or performing crew work to ensure safe, efficient and timely completion
- Provides quality control and assurance through review of performed work, actively participating in all crew work plans
- Monitors and implements actions to ensure team achieves department metrics and KPI’s
- Executes planned work schedule, minimizing and reporting on deviations and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Field liaison between maintenance work (internal & external) and operations
- Ensures team tasks are completed accurately through quality assurance audits
- Ensures each team member schedule is adequate and adjusts when needed to ensure sufficient allocation of tasks.
- Thoroughly reviewing job plans and assisting planners to ensure that proper tools and resources are being applied
- Regularly recording information into the CM(S) system to allow for continuous improvement
- Monitoring and promoting safe working conditions and practices
- Communicating, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders, contractors, and management regarding status of work, YVR policies, etc.
- Training, coaching and mentoring team members, reporting personnel performance and behaviour progress and/or issues to Manager, and providing input into the performance reviews of their team members.
Key qualifications include:
- BC Trade Qualification as an Electrician, Millwright, Plumber or Mechanic; preference will be given to persons with dual ticketed trades
- At least two years’ recent, related supervisor experience with the ability to direct a cross-functional team and at least five years’ experience repairing airport specific systems
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to comfortably and competently speak with, and write to, stakeholders, contractors and management
- Excellent prioritization and delegation skills
- Basic computer skills, particularly with MS Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as CSP related systems (e.g., Maximo)
- Knowledge of YVR policies, procedures and physical layout
Shift work is required as the department operates on a 24-hour basis.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $86,326 to $112,823 per annum, based on 40-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
