Commercial Project Lead

Position overview
We have a full time, permanent opportunity for a Commercial Project Lead. The purpose of this role is to administer, coordinate and support the implementation of commercial programs at the Airport. The Project Lead provides front line construction coordination and clients relations to all Commercial Tenants.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare project business cases, and capital requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and commercial design criteria.
- Coordinate and deliver commercial projects through the project lifecycle, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate delivery of overall projects on time as well as coordinate with design teams and technical staff to advance Commercial Services projects.
- Work closely with Tenants to understand their vision and provide support in bringing it to life, including design, and coordination related to base building services and maintenance.
- Guide Tenants and contractors through YVRAA’s permit and approvals process, including the Facilities Alterations Permit (FAP) process.
- Monitor Tenant construction progress to meet critical YVRAA target dates, ensuring compliance with guidelines and minimal operational impact in a live airport environment.
- Optimize internal and external client relations to ensure ongoing communication and positive working relationships to meet desired outcomes and timelines
Key qualifications include:
- At least 3 years of recent, related experience, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong knowledge of project management from conception to delivery, design, construction drawings, and building systems, with the ability to use AutoCAD, MS Office, and specialized property management software.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards in commercial real estate, health and safety regulations, and airport-specific security protocols, including the Facility Alteration Permit and asbestos clearance processes.
- Proven ability to manage construction safety/security programs and apply engineering and technical requirements, ensuring compliance with YVR's Tenant Design Criteria and universal access guidelines.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with a sound understanding of contracts, commercial leasing terms, and real estate law.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, complemented by excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and tenants.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
Salary Range : $80,932 to $105,773 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
