Terminal Services ensures the safe, efficient, and seamless operation of terminal facilities, supporting passenger experience, airline operations, and regulatory compliance through day to day terminal readiness, asset management, and stakeholder coordination.

Position overview

We are hiring a 6‑month temporary full‑time Sign Maker & Installer to join our Terminal Services team. Reporting to the Manager, Signage and Wayfinding Program, this role is responsible for designing, producing, installing, and maintaining airport signage that helps people move through YVR safely and efficiently. It’s a hands‑on position that combines sign making, basic graphic layout, and on‑site installation to meet regulatory, branding, and wayfinding standards.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to manage signage requests from start to finish, translating detailed requirements into clear, functional signage. In a fast‑paced airport environment, your work will be highly visible and directly support smooth passenger flow and daily terminal operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to gather signage requirements, timelines, and specifications
  • Design and prepare signage layouts and artwork in accordance with YVR standards, branding, and regulatory requirements
  • Fabricate a wide range of signage using sign shop equipment, materials, and established production techniques
  • Install signage across terminal, airside, and groundside areas, including working at height
  • Coordinate installation schedules and collaborate with third‑party installers as needed
  • Maintain signage inventory, documentation, tools, and perform audits, repairs, and updates

Key qualifications include:

  • At least one year of sign making experience and one year of computer graphics program experience, supplemented by a minimum of a high school diploma; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience with signage fabrication techniques for indoor and outdoor applications 
  • Proficiency with sign-making equipment, including plotters, large format printers, hand tools, saws, and cutting tools 
  • Strong working knowledge of design and graphics software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, FlexiSign, Gerber Omega) 
  • Familiarity with a variety of signage materials, substrates, and installation methods 
  • Ability to lift materials, work on ladders, and perform hands-on installation tasks 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to proof designs for accuracy 
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders

Although not required, French language skills are an asset as we are committed to providing bilingual services to our visitors and passengers. This helps us meet federal language obligations while ensuring a welcoming experience. Candidates who do not speak French are still strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary Range : $64,233 to $83,952 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
