Senior Buyer

Position overview
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Senior Buyer on the Supply Management team. Reporting to the Manager, Supply Management – Real Estate, we are looking for someone who is able to understand the business needs of our internal customers as well as changing business conditions to execute procurement strategies that deliver the best value to the organization.
The successful candidate will play an integral part in ongoing client and supplier relationship management, applying procurement policies, and executing the steps of full-cycle procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and execute procurement strategies to achieve best value for the organization
- Perform business intelligence and market analysis to guide and support business units for strategic and tactical procurement initiatives and category management
- Build and manage successful relationships with vendors and support vendor performance management
- Source and procure goods and services using competitive processes, including preparing RFx documents and administrating the entire procurement cycle through an online bidding platform (Bonfire)
- Negotiate with vendors and prepare agreements using template documents.
- Prepare executive-summary style documents for approval and reporting purposes.
- Work with client groups and with supporting business units such as Finance, Legal, and Risk to drive the procurement process.
Key Qualifications
- A professional designation, such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Minimum of eight (8) years recent experience in a large, complex organization providing procurement services ranging from day-to-day operations to capital construction projects.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-moving, dynamic environment supporting multiple clients with varying goals and priorities.
- Strong knowledge and experience in executing full-cycle goods and services
- Ability to understand and apply procurement and organizational policies.
- Experience creating documents such as procurement strategies, RFx packages, contracts and reports.
- Proficiency in conducting market research and analysis.
- Highly skilled at building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication and leadership skills in managing cross functional teams and projects.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Strong business and financial acumen
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
Salary Range : $89,904 to $117,498 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
