Position overview 

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Senior Buyer on the Supply Management team. Reporting to the Manager, Supply Management, Services, we are looking for someone who is keen to take on the initiative and contribute to managing & exploiting changing business conditions to deliver the best value procurement to the organization.

The successful candidates will be playing an integral part in ongoing supplier governance and relationship management, ensuring that appropriate total value of ownership is achieved through the life of contractual agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and execute contract strategies to achieve best value procurement for the organization
  • Perform business intelligence analysis to guide and support business units for strategic and tactical procurement initiatives and category management
  • Build and manage successful relationships with vendors and support vendor performance management
  • Source and procure goods and services using a competitive process, including preparing RFX documents and administrating the entire procurement process through an online bidding platform (Bonfire)
  • Negotiate with vendors and prepare various agreements using template documents
  • Work with client groups as well as supporting business units such as Finance, Legal, and Operations to drive the procurement process

Key Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of recent experience in procurement in a fast-paced and complex environment, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • A professional designation, such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in facility management or facility maintenance is preferred 
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Highly skilled at building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills in managing cross functional teams and projects

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $87,926 to $114,912 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
