Manager, Electrical Services

Position overview

We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Manager, Electrical Services in the Maintenance Services department. Reporting to the Director, Maintenance, the Manager, Electrical Services will lead the YVR electrical trades team and contractors to ensure facilities and infrastructure are functioning safely, efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws and codes.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Managing and coordinating all MTE work involving multi-disciplinary teams to deliver and maintain assets in alignment with the greater strategy
  • Responsible for the hiring, coaching, discipline of all electrical team members
  • Utilize various data and analytic systems and platforms to determine performance and efficiency of team, assets, systems, and technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for support in disciplines of high voltage electrical, emergency power and fire alarm.
  • Provide input and review of the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical instructions, and reference documentation, while working closely with YVR H&S on the electrical safety program.
  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to analyze trends and areas of improvement.
  • Conduct investigations and audits of incidents by means of analysis, technical reviews, and available data.
  • Act in capacity of Field Safety Representative for YVR.

Key qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with P.Eng (Electrical) preferred, an Electrical Technologist diploma, or an Electrical Certification of Qualification (Red Seal).
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in engineering, design, commissioning, maintenance, or manufacturing, including 5 years of recent experience in large and complex work environments such as airports, hospitals, municipalities, post-secondary campuses, or industrial plants. At least 3 years of leadership experience managing teams, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Field Safety Representative (FSR) - B is mandatory (or willingness/ability to obtain), with the eventual goal of obtaining FSR - A.
  • Proven experience in conducting and facilitating field reviews and inspections as part of work quality reviews and asset lifecycle assessments and repairs.
  • Experience with advanced Enterprise Asset Management systems (e.g., Maximo or Archibus).
  • Experience in creating multi-year capital infrastructure plans.
  • PMP certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in Canada and knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $100,640 to $168,245 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity. Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 15% of your annual salary.
