Business Strategy Analyst

Position overview
We have a full time, permanent opportunity for a Business Strategy Analyst, reporting to the Advisor to the CEO. This role supports the execution, monitoring and optimization of corporate strategies, while providing insights and recommendations to guide decision-making. This role provides analytical support for various strategic projects, business transformations, and corporate initiatives. The position will play a key role in gathering and interpreting data, tracking business performance, preparing and presenting reports, making recommendations and ensuring that strategies are communicated effectively across the organization. The role requires a blend of analytical, collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex data into clear and actionable recommendations that support the company’s strategic direction. Collaboration with internal teams and cross-functional departments will be essential to align on business changes and integrate insights into the broader strategic framework.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyze and review business performance to identify opportunities, leveraging technology systems to drive business analysis and reporting for decision making.
- Provide general analytical support for various strategic projects, business transformations, and corporate initiatives as required, ensuring that the strategic direction is communicated clearly across the organization.
- Prepare and present findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leaders and key stakeholders by summarizing complex information in a clear and actionable manner, tracking and analyzing strategic initiatives, and providing regular performance reports on key metrics and KPIs.
- Lead the collection and analysis of market data, competitor activities, and emerging trends to provide insights on the competitive landscape and market forces.
- Collaborate with YVR internal departments and cross-functional teams to align on business changes that support program development and integrate insights into strategic initiatives.
- Work closely with the Chief Planning, Priorities, and Performance Optimization Officer to align on the delivery of strategic priorities.
Key qualifications include:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in business analysis in a complex environment, supplemented by a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An MBA is an asset.
- Strong business acumen with advanced knowledge of business concepts (marketing, operations, and finance), including expertise in performing statistical and financial analysis to develop and assess new business streams.
- Advanced communication skills with the ability to craft professional business documents for senior leadership, combined with leadership capabilities to lead discussions, manage stakeholders, and navigate complex conversations.
- Proficient in advanced Excel functions (statistical analysis, V-Lookups, formulas, pivot tables) and skilled in the MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Proven strategic thinking, sound judgment, and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Familiarity in project development and execution, leveraging statistical and financial analysis to support informed decision-making.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
Salary Range : $82,753 to $108,153 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
