Product Owner - Advanced Analytics

Position overview 

We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Product Owner - Advanced Analytics in the Innovation and Technology Group. Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Advanced Analytics, the Product Owner - Advanced Analytics provides research, analysis and project management related to YVR's Data and Analytics platform in leading the data product development and the roadmap from inception to implementation and continuous improvement of new product(s) under the Advanced Analytics team. The product owner will articulate and sell the vision and product to both internal and external stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, business stakeholders and manage the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Use high-level perspective to define goals and create vision for new data insights platform as well as create and be accountable for a data product roadmap which is a high-level strategic visual summary that clearly indicates the vision and direction through a timeline of deliverables to the customer.
• Platform development: work closely with data scientists, BI developers, and engineers to ensure the successful development, testing and deployment of advanced analytics capabilities within the Azure based Cloud data platform.
• Work with business units to understand the problem we are trying to solve and gather requirements. Design and facilitate discovery and design thinking workshops with internal and external stakeholders to further breakdown the problem statement. 
• Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritize the product backlog to guide the development team in implementing BI, machine learning, and AI solutions.
• Understand the product owner methodology when managing the product backlog along with ownership, accountability and decision making on scope, budget time, and weighing priorities.
• Product launch and feedback loop; plan and execute product releases with user training. Continuously gather an analyze user feedback and data to make data driven decisions for enhancing and iterating on the platform's data and analytics capabilities.

Key qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as product manager or product owner at other companies required, preferably focused on digital or data products.
• Knowledge and expertise in Data Management, API, Data Science, Data Engineering, Data and Analytics.
• In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Methodology, user-designed design principles including working knowledge of product development architecture and proficiency in the use of analytic tools.
• Agile Certification is an asset, as well as Product Owner certification and Data and Analytics certification.
• Strong business writing, communication, and facilitation skills.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $97,599 – $127,555 per annum, based on 37.5 hours per week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
