Asset Performance Planner

The team collaborates with asset managers to track, maintain, an optimize asset performance, aligning with organizational goals while minimizing risks and ensuring compliance. 

Position overview 

Are you experienced in managing projects, including planning, executing, and closing them while handling budgets and timelines, and leading cross-functional teams? Do you have a strong background in data analysis and the ability to analyze performance data to drive decisions?

The Vancouver Airport Authority is currently looking for a permanent, full-time Asset Performance Planner to join our Asset Management Department. Reporting to the Manager, Asset Strategy & Planning, the successful candidate will develop cost-effective, long-term asset plans and manage risks with YVR’s Enterprise Risk team. Using tools like Copperleaf, CMMS, and BAS, this role will assess and report on asset conditions, and work with Asset Managers across Lines of Business to improve performance and support data-driven decisions. This is a strategic role that requires a strong blend of technical engineering expertise, business acumen, and communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Lead the development and optimization of asset management plans, offering strategic advice on service levels and future demand, and implementing effective processes, team development, and quality management frameworks.
  • Conduct condition assessments with SMEs, Asset Managers, and consultants; gather and report data for strategic planning, and monitor YVRAA’s asset management systems, including critical assets and business risks.
  • Lead the development and implementation of asset Service Level Agreements (SLA)s, monitor service delivery against metrics, and collaborate with Asset Managers to address performance issues and SLA breaches.
  • Collaborate on scopes of work for asset replacement projects, ensure alignment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and maintain effective communication with stakeholders to meet asset management objectives and enhance customer service.
  • Conduct and prioritize risk assessments for physical assets with SMEs and consultants, document and track risks using management tools, and develop mitigation strategies with Asset Managers.
  • Develop a multi-year investment program by gathering requirements, defining scope, and entering data into CopperLeaf Portfolio, aligning project dependencies with SGR Program Leads and the Asset Investment Planner, and manage business case entry and data quality in CopperLeaf for accurate forecasting and documentation.

Key qualifications include:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with at least 5 years of related progressive industry experience in asset management or project management in an airport or an environment with equivalent level of complexity
  • The following would be an asset, but not required: Registered as or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation, Risk Management Designation and / or Asset Management Professional (AMP) Designation
  • Strong project management skills in construction or maintenance of physical infrastructure, combined with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities to critically assess and challenge the status quo
  • Excellent risk management and stakeholder management skills, including identifying and mitigating critical risks, influencing decisions, and navigating conflicts
  • Strong knowledge of asset management principles, maintenance engineering or planning, particularly regarding the specific assets and operational processes within airport environment
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or enterprise asset management (EAM) software

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $80,932 to $105,773 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
