Business Analyst & Project Lead

Position overview
We have permanent, full-time opportunities for Business Analyst and Project Leads to join our Operational Excellence and Improvement team. Reporting to the Director, Operational Excellence and Improvement, the successful candidate is responsible in applying advanced analytics and quality management methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma) to identify business areas in the organization that can be improved and then lead identified improvement projects from conceptualization to implementation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyze data and operations to identify and implement optimization opportunities using structured approaches (e.g.Six Sigma), while effectively communicating insights and managing change.
- Stay informed on industry trends, represent the customer’s voice, and drive data-led decision making to ensure customer value.
- Plan, organize, and oversee projects from start to finish, leading teams, managing resources, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and communicating with stakeholders.
- Develop and support operational dashboards and reports to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Foster cross-functional relationships, champion a Continuous Improvement culture, and share expertise to drive and support standardized best practices.
Key qualifications include:
- Five years recent experience working in a complex operational environment, project management, data and process analysis, and/or Six Sigma implementation supplemented by Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or any related field; or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
- Six Sigma Green belt and Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is required.
- Strong foundation in analytical tools and techniques, mathematics, statistics, data visualization, and predictive modelling,
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of queuing theory
- Skilled in process mapping - visually mapping out workflows and processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with analytical mindset including ability to turn data into business intelligence.
- Knowledge and understanding of AI including machine learning, libraries and frameworks.
- Proven ability to formulate decisions often without established guidelines.
- Strong attention to details
- Leadership skills with proven relationship building, facilitation, and negotiation experience.
- Excellent computer skills and proven competency with Microsoft Office 365 programs including SharePoint.
- Strong communication and written communication skills
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $ 87,926 to $114,912 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
